#LondonSquad Team Talk with Nafisa
Each month we speak to a different volunteer from the #LondonSquad, ahead of UEFA EURO 2020.
This month, we caught up with Nafisa, one of our City Squad members, to see what she’s most looking forward to about her role, and what motivated her to sign up as a volunteer at UEFA EURO 2020.
Can you tell us about any previous volunteering experience you have?
I’ve worked at St Thomas Care Centre delivering exercise and mobility sessions to adults recovering from stroke and Parkinson’s disease. I have also worked with primary and secondary school children who have speech, language and communication needs, delivering therapy to facilitate effective levels of communication. Additionally, I have worked with the Stroke Association to enable stroke survivors to improve on their speech, as well as their confidence and self-esteem.
Why did you decide to volunteer with the London Squad for UEFA EURO 2020?
I feel that the London Is Open message is really important and want to help deliver this by welcoming visitors of all
As a City Squad member, you'll have the choice of volunteering at five different tourist hotspots (Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus, South Bank and Cutty Sark). Is there a location that you are particularly excited about volunteering at?
I am most excited about volunteering at Trafalgar Square. It hosts a lot of multicultural events and attracts a diverse range of people. I am excited about being part of the team welcoming guests of all nationalities and showing them that London is open to everyone.
