An Audience With... Goldie, Women in Music Special presents an amazing opportunity to gain insight from one of the world’s most infamous artists/producers, Goldie (MBE).

“In my music and art,” says Goldie, “is everything I’ve learned, everyone I’ve met, everything I’ve experienced.”

We are excited to invite an audience of female creatives aged 16+ to this unique masterclass with the musical alchemist. Producers, artists, singers, songwriters, composers and DJs will get the chance to hear about his amazing journey in the music and creative industries and education spanning over 25 years.

This event is part of the Mayor of London’s Sounds Like London series taking place throughout June 2018. The event will be held on Making Music Day UK in The Midi Music Company’s creative hub in the heart of Deptford, south-east London.

“In my music and art is everything I’ve learned, everyone I’ve met, everything I’ve experienced,” says Goldie, who went from children’s homes in the West Midlands to stints in New York and Miami as one of the UK’s most celebrated exponents of graffiti art.

Between 1993-1995 he created the genre defining Terminator, followed by the equally revolutionary Angel. Then in 1995 Goldie made his debut album Timeless, the Drum’n’Bass scene’s first platinum album, still cited by critics as one of the best albums of the past 20 years.

Among Goldie's many accolades is an invitation he received in 2011 to give a TED talk at London’s Kings Place. Another came a year later when he was selected as one of the BBC’s 'New Elizabethans', a group of 60 people – including David Hockney, Roald Dahl, David Bowie and Tim Berners-Lee – who have helped shape British culture during the reign of Elizabeth II. In January 2016, he was awarded an MBE as part of the Queen’s New Year's Honours List.
