Culture for everyone

The GLA is committed to making art and culture more accessible.

Making culture accessible for everyone

We are proud supporters of the Mayor's Liberty Festival, showcases the talents of deaf and disabled artists, we continue to support the Royal Opera House’s free outdoor screenings in central London and we are always keen to explore with other organisations ways in which they can try similar activities.

Boosting culture and arts in outer London

At the moment people who live further from the centre tend to participate less with London’s art and culture. We encourage locally based cultural activities and events through promotion and funding. We present and support events and festivals across the city and ensure that venues in central London are fully inclusive in their activities and try to engage all Londoners and visitors alike.

Music education

In November 2014 the Mayor launched his new London Music Pledge. He is asking educators, musicians and parents to support great music making in London's schools by making some simple pledges. Read the London Music Pledge and make your pledge.

Young people and culture

We support a range of events and activities to stimulate young people’s interest and engagement in arts and culture including the Fourth Plinth Schools Awards, the UK's biggest street music competition Gigs as well as Big Dance, and a large number of music activities across the capital.
