Team London Trustee Training
Team London Trustee Training
Trustees are critical to a charity’s success. At Team London we are passionate about ensuring trustees and charity staff are properly supported in this important role.
To achieve this, we are running the following free workshops in 2018:
Working with Trustees: Recruitment and Diversity: 16 July - 74% of small charities said they have difficulty recruiting trustees. We listened to this feedback and have added a charity-facing workshop. This will provide tools and support to successfully select and recruit trustees, and also help ensure diversity in your board members. Applications open.
Introduction to Trusteeship: 3 September - This will suit those who are new to trusteeship or those who are thinking about becoming a trustee. The workshop will give a broad overview of responsibilities and working practices, with talks from existing trustees who will share their experiences and answer questions. Applications open in August - register your interest here.
Trustee Masterclass: 20 November - Each year our masterclass has a different focus. This year the session will give practical support and advice to those trustees responsible for data management and GDPR. Applications open in September - register your interest here.
Trustees are vital to the local community services provided by charities across the capital, and it's great that Team London is working with partners to deliver the high quality training trustees need to be the best they can be in these important roles. Feedback from today's session has been really positive - everyone's left with a clearer understanding of how to be effective in the vital role of a Trustee with a London charity. We're really grateful to Team London for their investment in this programme of support for London's voluntary sector. James Banks, Chief Executive of Greater London Volunteering.
Our charity’s too small to be able to afford to send trustees on training, so to find this free conference was fantastic - and the quality of the speakers and workshop presenters means I’ve got some great new ideas to take back to my Board, thank you! Delegate from 2015 Trustees Conference.

Does your charity struggle to recruit the trustees you need?
Could a broader range of trustees with the skills, networks and experiences give your charity the impetus to reach the next level?
Team London and trustee recruitment specialists, Getting on Board, will deliver a workshop to help you identify which kinds of trustees would support the development of your charity - and how to recruit them. You will come away with a clear idea of the type of trustees you need, a draft advert, a list of free places to advertise, and a plan to ensure that new trustees hit the ground running.
Attendance is open to trustees and senior staff of charities based in London. Places are limited and priority will be given to those charities where the CEO and a trustee attend the workshop together. It would be helpful if you have board approval to recruit new trustee(s) before you attend the workshop, and be prepared to start recruitment shortly after the session!
There are an estimated 100,000 vacancies for charity trustees in the UK. Getting on Board work with charities and employers (including Accenture, KPMG, Prudential, Harrods and State Street) to support more people to join charity boards.
